Stephen Johnston

Stephen Johnston is Fellow, Healthy Longevity at SOMPO Digital Lab. In addition he is Managing Director of Fordcastle, an innovation consultancy, Founder of Healthy Habitats, a network and design lab for healthy places, and curates the Looking Forward newsletter.

Named a Next Avenue Influencer in Aging in 2020, Stephen has been driving innovation in healthy ageing and longevity for over a decade.

In 2012 he co-founded Aging2.0 and grew it to a global network of 100+ city Chapters and 30,000 innovators. In 2013, Aging2.0 launched the world’s first ‘Agetech’ accelerator program, the Academy, that supported over 30 startups grow to several billion dollars of enterprise value. Aging2.0 ran the annual OPTIMIZE conference in San Francisco, which become a key convening point for global innovators. Aging2.0 was sold to LHCC in December 2021.

Stephen is the co-author of Growth Champions, Wiley, 2012) and Longevity Hubs with Professor Joe Coughlin (MIT, 2024). He studied Economics at Cambridge University and has an MBA from Harvard Business School, where he was a Fulbright Scholar.
